Cover Reveal | “Crown of Dust” By: C. F. E. Black

Hello Everyone! I am so excited to join in the cover reveal team for “Crown of Dust” the the second book in the YA epic fantasy series, “Scepter and Crown” by C. F. E. Black! Black is a new-to-me author and I don’t know why it had taken so long to get to her novels. They are so good! Like definitely favorites of mine right now. The “Scepter and Crown” series has a magic system based off of truth and lies. It’s a concept that I personally haven’t seen yet and feels very original to me. Every object has a source of truth that can be pulled from and used as magic, each with a different level of truth, but people are the best sources. Sorcerers, the only people who can pull and use these sources, are often hired to protect people. So in this series, a powerful sorcerer, Aly, is the king’s, Red’s, protector. Trying to protect him from the lies, curses, and deadly creatures that come from the Deep.

Since lies either weaken or corrupt their magic, this series does kinda remind me of faerie books, but only they aren’t fae and it has it’s own unique twist to it.

Over the past few weeks I have read and loved the novella “Shield of Shadow” (that you can get for free when signing up to the author’s newsletter here), that was about how Aly got in her position. Definitely a must read. I really enjoyed getting to know her backstory before getting into the first book, “Blade of Ash”.

Which, by the way, I am reading “Blade of Ash” right now! Needless to say, this book is fabulous. The characters are so well done and it has just the right amount of danger with a dab of romance.

I will definitely be doing a longer review here on the blog as soon as I finish “Blade of Ash” and have some time on my hands! But I will say, they are five star reads to me, go and pick them up!

With nothing further to do, let’s get this cover reveal on the road! (AND IT’S SO PRETTY!)

About

The enemy is dead. The battle has only just begun.

Red and Aly thought they had eliminated the greatest to their lives, but as they return from their trip north, a new enemy rises from within their own ranks, threatening to rip Red and Aly apart.

Convinced Red was corrupted by his trip into the Canyon, Lord Alexander fights to destroy Red’s kingship, and with it, Red’s Binding to Aly.

Now Red must earn the trust of his countrymen, not only to retain his throne and continue his fight against Kassia and the Canyon, but to keep Aly as well, for Aly is bound to serve the crown, no matter who wears it.

Fight for the crown. Fight for love. Or lose them both.
